QUT Virtual Holiday Program Day 2 @ Online

Learn about what fuels are and what kind of fuels will be used in the future. With intense colour changes, instant clouds, and a real rocket engine, this live broadcast is sure to captivate junior scientists of all ages!

Alginate worms workshops @ The Amphitheatre Roma Street Parkland Brisbane City, QLD 4000
Sep 30 @ 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

This workshop will see children complete a guided hands-on investigation, expanding their knowledge of processed materials. Kids will mix various chemicals to produce a number of amazing polymer worms! Most suited for children aged 5-12 years.

Workshops will be split into 45 minute sessions running at 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am and 12:00pm. You can choose which session you would like to attend when you register above. All sessions for this workshop will be held in the Amphitheatre. You can view a map for Roma Street Parkland HERE

Registration is required to attend. Please note if you are running more than 20 minutes late for your session your spot may be reallocated.

 

COVID information 

Please note that to ensure public safety, several COVID-Safe measures will be in place during Kids Collective. These measures are per the Queensland Government’s COVID-Safe Events Framework and Checklist and also include a required registration process, safeguarding the ability to contact trace if required and manage crowd numbers.

In addition, a number of proactive methods have been implemented to ensure patron well-being across the Kids Collective program, including:

  • On- ground hygiene stations, with regular use encouraged
  • Imposed social distancing of 4 square metres per person
  • Thorough cleaning of all equipment, pre and post use
  • Daily touch-point cleaning of all toilet blocks and parent’s rooms, plus intensifying night-cleaning of all toilets

When visiting the Parkland, please make sure you observe the guidelines set out by Queensland Health and do not attend the Parkland if any of the below are applicable:

  • You or your child are displaying COVID-19 symptoms- these include a cough, fever, sore throat, fatigue or shortness of breath, and feeling unwell
  • You or your child tested positive for COVID-19 or are awaiting results
  • You or your child have travelled overseas to a declared COVID-19 hotspot in the previous 14 days

Per Queensland Government guidelines, Roma Street Parkland staff retain the right to refuse patrons from the event if they are displaying COVID-like symptoms. If you or your child begin to feel unwell at Kids Collective please speak to on-ground event staff/ inform staff and leave immediately.

Kingaroy friends – looking for the perfect activity to keep the little ones busy these school holidays? Then look no further – Street Science will be running our exciting drop-in science workshops from Monday 28th June until Friday 2nd July at Kingaroy Shopping World!

We’ll be there from 10am-1pm each day so you can drop the kids off to get stuck into some seriously fun science, while you can get stuck into that relaxing morning coffee.

From wriggly alginate worms, to fluffy instant snow, sparkly slime and bouncy balls, there’s something for every budding scientist to enjoy! There’s no need to book ahead; however, due to strict participant number limits, we recommend you arrive early to grab your spot.

Get ready, scientists of Ripley, because Street Science is coming your way on Tuesday June 29th and Wednesday June 30th with our highly popular instant snow and slime making workshops!

Create your very own winter wonderland by making some fluffy instant snow, and watch the science come to life! Then it’s time to make space in your holiday plans for mixing up some galaxy slime!

We’ll be running drop-in workshops throughout the two days so there’s no need to book ahead. However, with strictly limited numbers of participants permitted for each session, make sure you arrive nice and early so you don’t miss out!

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE:

Tuesday 29th June 2021 – Instant Snow drop-in workshops running from 10am-11am, 11:30am-12:30pm and 1pm-2pm.

Wednesday 30th June 2021 – Galaxy Slime drop-in workshops running from 10am-11am, 11:30am-12:30pm and 1pm-2pm.

Budding scientists of Cannon Hill, we have a special treat for you these school holidays!

Street Science will be running our scintillating drop-in science workshops at Cannon Hill Kmart Plaza during the second week of holidays, from Monday 5th July until Friday 9th July. And even better, we’ll be offering a different workshop for every day of the week!

We’ll be there from 10am-1pm each day and there’s no need to book ahead. However, because of strict limits on participant numbers, we recommend you arrive in plenty of time to secure your spot.

Get ready for a School Holiday Science Spectacular on Sunday 26th September at North Lakes Sports Club!

Junior scientists will be immersed in our high-energy Science Stage Show. Exciting demonstrations of coloured fireballs, liquid nitrogen clouds and more will teach them the science behind everyday phenomena. This will be followed by some Sweet Science in the form of our fizztastic Sherbet Making workshop!
